Yellowfin Grouper
This fish has many color phases, ranging from brownish-gray with speckled dark oval spots, to pink with oval red spots, to flaming red with black sides. In all color phases, however, it has a bright yellow margin on the outer third of its pectoral fins.
The pelvic fin and the spiny part of the dorsal fin may also be trimmed in yellow. The soft part of the dorsal fin, the anal fin and the tail fin are edged in black. Yellowfin grouper are active predators that target finfish, although squid, crabs and shrimp are also eaten.
Regularly to 20 pounds, occasionally 30 pounds or larger.
